Pirates of the Curry Bean
Well done to all of year 5 - you did an amazing job supporting the Year 6 with the production. Your singing was superb; you really did an outstanding job. Thank you for all the hard work that you put into learning your lines and practising with the Year 6. They really couldn`t do it without you.
Special thanks to Jack for doing a sterling job making sure the music and sound cues were all on time!
I wish you all the very best for next year and I look forward to hearing about your end of year production!
A big thank you to all of you.
What an amazing week! The children participated in a whole range of activities:
Monday – School Games Day
Tuesday – Carousel of sports – Netball/Circuits/Karate/Military drills/dance – taster sessions
Wednesday – Paralympic Day – learning about the history of the Paralympics; how and when it first started and how it has grown. They also had taster sessions of Sitting Volleyball and Goalball.
Thursday – Inter house Football
Friday – Healthy Living Day – the children learnt about the effects of tobacco and alcohol on the body.
Fortunately the weather was good (at times a bit too good!) which meant that all the activities went ahead. It was lovely to see all the children so engaged, supporting each other where necessary.
Well done Year 5
The weather was booked as usual, but unusually, this year it delivered! We had a fantastic week. The children participated in a wide range of activities from orienteering, to the more extreme and notorious - “Leap of Faith”. The intentions behind all of the activities were to develop their resilience, perseverance, independence and teamwork skills. I would say that all of the children succeeded with all of these intentions. The overriding theme that was evident, was the support that the children showed towards each other.
I am sure that they have come home with many tales to tell and photographic evidence! Each child will be given a CD to keep, with photos taken by their group leader.
The children’s behaviour was impeccable. They had a great time and represented the school well – we are very proud of all of them and it was a pleasure to take them away.
I would like to thank Mrs. Van de Linde, Mr. Bush and Mrs. Stansfield for giving up their time to come and all their support during the week.
On Wednesday 15th March, twelve Year 5 pupils went to The Cottesloe School to take part in a Badminton Tournament with seven other, local, village schools. We were split up with boys playing boys and girls playing girls. The tournament lasted for approximately two hours and although it started slowly for us, we soon warmed up. In total we won 10 out of 24 matches , played and enjoyed ourselves immensely, so much so , we would like to do more tournaments in the future!
Although we were not overall winners, we all received a medal which was presented to us on the day, as well as at our School celebration assembly on a Friday, and for that we are all very proud.
Mrs White would like to say huge congratulations to all who took part:
Mia G, Maya A, Shannon M, Megan McA, Alice C, Evie S, Josh L, Malachy F, Louis E, George I, Harry S-H and Dan T.
Great work children! Mrs Laird and I are extremely proud of you!
