Year 3 and 4 visit to Edlesborough Cricket Club

On Wednesday 12th July, year 3 and 4 children walked to Edlesborough Village Green to meet a coach from Edlesborough Cricket Club. They participated in some skill building activities and then a game to develop throwing, batting and fielding skills. Children were then treated to a biscuit and drink after all their hard work!

Here are some photos from the afternoon:

Minecraft Rivers

In Geography the children have been learning about rivers. They followed the journey of the River Severn, pointing out the key features along the way such as the source, meanders, flood plains and mouth.  In order to show what they have learnt, they were challenged to create a river using the popular app Minecraft, showing the different features.  Haven't they done well!

Computing Days 8th and 9th June

This week both year 3 and 4 have enjoyed a computing day with Mrs McLean.  They used Scratch to create a computer game, after first learning the skills of programming a sprite to move under user control, using a forever loop and the if command.  Both classes tried their absolute hardest, never giving up if the challenge became too much!  What's more, they all produced some fantastic games, some of which can be seen below.

If you would like to view more, they can be found on the Scratch website which can be accessed here.

Hazard Alley

On the 3rd May, Year 3/4 visited Hazard Alley in Milton Keynes, a personal safety centre.  During a tour in the 'life size' village,  the children encountered a range of 'hazards' giving them the opportunity to develop vital knowledge and strategies on how to stay safe.  They completed scenarios based on fire and home safety, personal and water safety and how to stay safe around railways and building sites.  All children made a 999 call, an experience which some found a little unnerving, and they all learnt how to place someone in the recovery position.  Overall, the children had an enjoyable afternoon, and took away a lot of valuable knowledge about personal safety.  Well done year 3/4
